When I was young, I tend to think that all of my dreams will be fulfilled after I graduated from college... that's also how most of our parents conceived college education, they believe that once they've already given their children college education, it's enough to provide them (the children) a good life for the future. It seems like good life is connected with finishing college, well in some ways it's true... but that is not always the case.
Graduating from college is just an entrance to many great possibilities but it doesn't mean good life at all. After graduation, finding a job is one of the big questions. Some of the college graduates I see fall in just being a fast food crew and sales clerk, I am not saying that I am against these jobs, of course as a "fresh grad" we do not have any expertise and experience like others do and we do not have a right to desire the highest position, but isn't it just for us to have a job that commensurate to our finished degree?
If you luckily got a job after graduation, well lucky old you! However, can your salary sustain your living? For rich college graduates, this is not a big deal because they do not need to take the responsibility of serving their parents back, but how about those who are not as rich as they? in family belonging to the lower and middle-lower class, it is just a virtue to help your parents after graduation. But is your salary enough to help uplift your parent's status in life?
What I've mentioned above are just some reality check. College is not an assurance (but still, it is self-investment)
Well, don't take this out of context, I'm not telling everybody not to enter college, what I'm trying to convey here is let most of us not depend the fulfillment of their dreams upon college education because success in life has never been one-sided...virtue, personality and skills must come together.
Dreaming of having a big house, an expensive car, lots of money and being wealthy is not an easy task, college cannot always bring us there. In life, success is not a matter of education, it is just one of the elements -- what matter is ability, confidence, perseverance, courage, luck and faith in God.
I'm not writing this to discourage college graduates nor urge them to stop dreaming, I myself is a college student too, what I'm just trying to imply is that once we dream make sure that we can bring those dreams into reality (although it's impossible to be assured) because disappointment really hurts.
Dreaming is not bad especially if you've gone through many hardships, but if you dream don't dream too much, because sometimes it can lead to frustration, we need to be realistic. Whether we like it or not, this is one of life's facts.
Our dream is not a half-step away from the entrance of our schools that once we graduated we can already get there, our dreams is a hundred, thousand and million miles away, but if we believe, that's not impossible to attained.
My advice, once you graduated from college, quickly make the first step. Have a blessed and safe journey. See you there! ^_^
